While flipping through the most recent issue of The Bohemian this weekend (and enjoying some ice cream at Petaluma’s newest creamery, Lala’s – review to come soon), I read some sad, sad news: Red’s Recovery Room in Cotati is set to close this month – something about losing its lease. Big. Sigh.
I liked Red’s. Although only being able to get there once, every time I drove by from a day up north, there was always the strong urge to pull over, get the cowboy boots on and drink an icy one on the rickety back porch bench while listening to the sounds of the serious pool players and country tunes drift outside. I missed the closing bash which was the 11th, but I still have dreams of swooping in at the last minute and saving Red’s Recovery Room, perhaps adding an open-air dance & concert hall to the back, keeping it going for another 33 years…
You can read about the Red’s closing here or a SCL friend’s review of Red’s here.
So long Red’s. You were a good one. And you’ll be missed.
